Over the past few years, Tara Trust has grown into the kind of organization we could have only dreamed of back in 2008, when founder Dr. Katharina Poggendorf-Kakar first began her work by registering the trust.  Setting out with the goal to enable the underprivileged children in her community and other parts of India, using her passion for art as her medium.

Starting out by conducting just one regular workshop herself, to now working along side over 15 institutions across Goa, reaching out to over 320 children on a weekly basis and collaborating with countless community members, creative professionals and fellow volunteers.  Having conducted 4 art exchange camps under the 1000 Crane project banner, 2 annual summer camp programs, and running regular special workshops with a focus on social and environmental awareness.  It is incredible to see the just how far we have come.

And over this last year it’s been all about getting the organization to the point where it can grow even farther. Restructuring our programs, developing our content and communications, securing our finances and ultimately strengthening our overall ability to move forward.  For we are continuously working towards building a brighter future for those around us and are thrilled to see that our core work is only just beginning.

So with that we welcome you to our new website in which we hope to make you an even larger part of our mission and keep you informed as to everything that we do as we continue to expand our reach.  Looking forward to a whole lot more starting off the new academic year!
